Walmart Fulfillment Services, or WFS, is a complete suite of fulfillment services that lets Walmart Marketplace sellers outsource picking, packing, shipping, storage, and returns to Walmart.
While WFS isn’t currently as comprehensive as Amazon FBA, it’s a strong option for sellers who don’t want to manage their own fulfillment. Sellers using WFS may also take advantage of ‘Fulfilled by Walmart’ and ‘2-day shipping’ tags to help boost search rankings and increase Buy Box wins.

How Are Sellers Paid on Walmart?
In the US, Walmart lets sellers choose between two third-party payout providers: Payoneer and Hyperwallet. Sellers in Canada can also use PingPong. (See here for an up-to-date list of payment processors available to sellers in other countries, like China, Hong Kong, India, and Vietnam).
When you set up your seller account, you’ll be prompted to select one of these platforms and register with them. Once you’ve signed up, your payments will be automatically processed through your chosen platform.
Payoneer and Hyperwallet are both linked to your bank account for fast and easy transfer of funds.
When Does Walmart Pay Sellers?
Payments are usually disbursed to sellers every 14 days. However, the exact payment cycle depends on the terms listed in your Walmart Marketplace Retailer Agreement. You can also check the dates on your Payment History Reports to get a better idea of your payment cycle.
New sellers on Walmart.com are subject to a payment hold for each item shipped. The hold period is up to 14 days for US sellers, or 21 days for international sellers.
Payments for each item will be delayed until both of the following criteria are met:
- 90 days have past since your first order was shipped
- You’ve received $7,500 in payments
Settlement cycles occur biweekly on alternate Fridays at midnight PST, so it can take up to a month or more to receive payment after an order has shipped, depending on when you start selling.
Setting Up Payment Information
As of 2024, sellers no longer need to register with Payoneer or Hyperwallet ahead of time. You can set up your payments processing account through a portal within Walmart Seller Center, or link a preexisting Payoneer or Hyperwallet account to your Seller Center account.
To set up payments, go to the Payment Info page and click the ‘Set up’ button next to the payment processor of your choice. You’ll need a valid ID, email address, contact details, and bank account information to get set up.
Walmart Marketplace Sales Tax
Previously, sellers were responsible for calculating their own taxes. Now, Walmart Marketplace takes responsibility for calculating, collecting, remitting, and refunding sales tax on orders shipped and delivered to all states where sales tax is applicable.
You are responsible for assigning a shipping sales tax code to each shipping method you support, and Walmart recommends working with an accountant to determine the correct codes. If you believe an item is not being taxed correctly, verify that the item has the correct product type ID.
Winning the Walmart Buy Box
The Walmart Buy Box refers to a featured section on an item page that displays the item’s name, price, seller, and purchasing options. If two sellers are selling the same product on Walmart, they will have to share the item page.
The most effective way to make your product stand out from your competitors is to win the Buy Box, which secures the top spot on the item results page and essentially makes your product the default purchase option.
One of the most effective strategies for winning the Buy Box is offering competitive prices. To boost your chances, pay close attention to how your competitors are pricing their products.

Walmart fees vs. Amazon fees
How do Walmart’s seller fees compare with Amazon’s? Here are some things to think about when comparing the fees associated with each platform. Consider which products you plan to sell, and don’t forget to include fulfillment and subscription fees.
Key considerations when comparing Walmart vs. Amazon seller fees:
- Amazon charges sellers a subscription fee of $39.99 per month in addition to other fees, including listing fees.
- Walmart does not charge setup, subscription, or monthly fees, and has slightly lower commission fees on certain products, like watches and computers.
- Other Walmart fees, like storage and shipping, also trend slightly lower than Amazon’s, however the final cost breakdown will vary depending on size, weight, product category, and other factors.
