What is Mobile 3D Scanning?

Mobile 3D scanning enables Selling Partners to scan their products in as little as 3 minutes, from which Amazon creates 3D models, covering retouch costs for a limited time. 

Amazon’s Mobile 3D Scanning app is available right within the Seller Central mobile app. It’s now available to all US 3P sellers on iOS devices in the Amazon Seller mobile app, with app language set to English.

Additionally, this feature is enabled for all US 1P vendors on iOS devices in the Amazon Vendor mobile app in April 2024, with app language set to English.

Why Use 3D Images on Amazon?

In short, customers get a richer, more immersive experience to learn about your products.

With 3D content, customers can virtually try on shoes or eyewear, visualize what an item will look like in their own space, or virtually rotate and zoom in on the product from any direction to see features that might be missed through traditional static photography.

  • 8X increase in customers who viewed a product in AR at Amazon, from 2018 to 2022.

  • The product has a 3D Customer Experience (e.g. View-in-3D, View-In-Your-Room, AR Virtual-Try On). This eligibility can be seen here or here (behind Seller Central log in).
  • Amazon does not already have a 3D model for it.
  • It was not attempted to be scanned and rejected by another seller.
